Some Memories of the 11/11/11 Centennial Dinner

NOTE:  A camera malfunction resulted in some potentially great photos being not so great.  But a few of them came out just fine.  Here they are.  If any of the attendees will share their own photos, we would love to post them.  Please email them to HFDBadge102@aol.com.

Gil Spencer, Joe Rahl, Bill Farrell, Frank Fowler, and Tom Waite. Joe and Tom are both past captains of Co. 5. Tom came all the way from his home in Florida to attend the dinner. Gil celebrated 60 years with Co. 5 last month. (Photo courtesy of Frank Fowler)
L-R: Tony and Betty Mellillo; Past Captain Don Steele (92) and his son, Tim, who joined in 1964.
Harold and Shirley Manger; Peggy and Austin "Augie" Williams. (Harold isn't wearing a big flower in his lapel - it's just a glare on the lens.)
Steve Law and Barbara Feinberg, Gerry's wife.
Sue and Mark Guarino
Rev. Owen Sanderson, Hamden Fire Department Chaplain, offered the dinner's Invocation and Benediction. "The Rev," as he is affectionately known throughout the department, has been a member of the HFD family for going on 50 years!

Bill Chalmers
Former Co. 5 President Ray Latini

Gail Mitchell, Vic's wife, with Ed and Peggy Doiron
Jean Strain (far right) with two of several friends who joined her for the dinner. Jean is the granddaughter of Co. 5's first captain, James H. Strain, and daughter of James W. Strain, who also was a past captain of Co. 5, and a career member who retired as a Deputy Chief in 1973.
Past Captain Jim Beirne with Russ Loller. Russ' great-grandfather, Charles Loller, was Hamden's first fire chief, serving from 1925 to 1942.
